Rubber prices fell 5.3% month-on-month in mid-March

According to recent news from the Ministry of Commerce, domestic rubber prices fell 5.3% month-on-month during the week from March 11th to 17th. Affected by the dual effects of falling prices of natural rubber and chemical raw materials in Southeast Asia, the cumulative decline in rubber prices reached 8% during the five-week period. The price of rubber (hereinafter referred to as "natural rubber") at home and abroad has been declining in the past two weeks. In early April, relevant departments in the main natural rubber producing regions such as Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia will meet to discuss how to protect the price.

Over the past four years, rubber prices have fluctuated dramatically. From January 2009 to November 2011, natural rubber futures prices rose sharply, from 12,000 yuan per ton to nearly 43,000 yuan, and then the price plummeted and fell to around 18,000 yuan in August 2012.
